Truth, Deception, and Information Disorder

Are we witnessing a war on truth? In today’s information-saturated world, the rise of fake news, disinformation campaigns, and propaganda disguised as fact has blurred the line between reality and fiction. This Praxis Lab explored the evolving concept of truth, the impact of technology on public perception, and the challenges of distinguishing fact from manipulation in an era where anyone can be a publisher.

Through historical analysis, case studies, and critical discussions, students examined the tools and tactics used to distort truth—from political rhetoric to social media misinformation. They also investigated the role of platforms like Facebook and Twitter in amplifying or mitigating these distortions and considered the broader implications for democracy and public trust.
