Transparency and Privacy
This Praxis Lab critically examined the conflicting paradigms of privacy and transparency in society, exploring their origins, underlying rationales, and growth. With societal concerns about government corruption, financial scandals, and rising costs of education, as well as the role of social media in enabling unprecedented transparency, students delved into the implications of these issues. They studied the legal and constitutional considerations of both privacy and transparency, focusing on their applications in areas such as government, media, education, finance, and the internet.
Throughout the first semester, students engaged with leading local and national experts in the fields of openness and privacy, gaining a deep understanding of the complexities involved. In the second semester, students applied their knowledge by developing two practical projects aimed at addressing real-world challenges, ensuring their impact extended beyond the classroom.
