Wondering About Praxis Labs? See the Impact at the Honors Student Showcase 2025!

Each year, Honors College students tackle pressing societal issues through Praxis Labs, yearlong, student-driven courses that combine interdisciplinary learning with real-world application. Students engage with faculty experts, collaborate across disciplines, and develop innovative solutions to challenges affecting our local and global communities.

From climate change and public health to social justice and economic equity, Praxis Labs empower students to think critically, act boldly, and create meaningful change. These experiences not only deepen students’ academic journeys but also set them apart when applying for nationally competitive scholarships, graduate programs, and career opportunities.

Curious to see these projects in action? Join us at the Honors Student Showcase 2025 on Wednesday, April 16, from 4-7 p.m. in Kahlert Village! Praxis Lab presentations will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m., offering a firsthand look at how students are addressing real-world challenges through innovative research and action.

This year’s Praxis Labs include:

  • America’s Inland Sea: Impacts of a Shrinking Great Salt Lake— Students in this lab have explored the environmental, economic, and political challenges surrounding the shrinking Great Salt Lake. Their final projects propose actionable solutions to help protect and restore this vital natural resource.
  • Equity, Culture, and Preventive Health— This lab has examined the intersection of healthcare access, cultural identity, and prevention strategies. Students have developed initiatives aimed at reducing health disparities and promoting community well-being.

Attendees will have the chance to see the final projects from these Praxis Labs and hear directly from students about their research and solutions.
