Newly Admitted Students
Information for our 2021 Incoming Class
Congratulations! You’ve just been accepted to the Honors College at the University Of Utah…now what?
A few steps are required before you begin at the University Of Utah.
This spring and summer the Honors College will offer virtual options only. We look forward to a near future where we can host students and families in person.
While we may not be able to offer you an in-person Honors Choice Day, we do have two options for you:
We are using Canvas to deliver this content but you do not need to be an enrolled UofU student to access this particular “course”. Use your University of Utah login information (reminder: this information came with your University of Utah admissions letter and does NOT require you to pay your enrollment deposit to access). We hope that this helps you make your college decision and that you learn a lot about us.
2.Honors hosts special Honors Choice Days and Information Session/Tours to help you determine if Honors is the best fit for you.
Honors Choice Days are a live comprehensive look at the Honors College hosted by our Honors Student Ambassadors and the Director of Admissions.
This year we are offering three live Zoom Honors Choice Days
Saturday February 27th at 11:30am MST
Saturday March 13th at 11:30am MST
Saturday March 27th at 11:30am MST
Students are required to pay an enrollment deposit to secure their place at the U. This payment is not due until May 1, 2021. However, you cannot register for mandatory orientation without payment. https:/admissions.utah.edu/confirm/. Confirming your intent to enroll is all that you need to do for the Honors College. The Honors College does not require an acceptance of your spot with Honors beyond this enrollment payment.
*If your enrollment payment is waived, no further action is required.
**If you plan to defer, enrollment payment is still required.
Register for University orientation (options open up on February 8, 2021) Honors will offer virtual orientation options with advisors during summer orientation. Should you attend an orientation for a summer start, or international orientation, please make a separate appointment with an Honors advisor during that time.
Interested in Living with Honors Your First Year?
**Honors students are NOT required to live in Honors Housing.**
**Students are NOT required to pay their enrollment deposit before applying and reserving housing**
First-year Honors students have a variety of themed communities from which to choose. In Kahlert Village, there are first-year Honors communities in the STEM, Community Engagement, and Health & Wellness towers. Students living in these communities will have access to Honors-specific programming and general programming of their themed towers. Additionally, students may opt for a general first-year Honors community in Sage Point.
Honors students interested in living on-campus should submit their HousingU application via their Campus Information Services (CIS) portal between Feb. 10 and March 10. (cis.utah.edu)
By March 26, students will receive a reservation time and date to book their room with Housing and Residential Education. These dates will range from late March to early April.
When reserving, students will be able to see all housing options, including Honors spaces. A breakdown of Honors spaces can be found here: https://uofu.box.com/v/UofUHonorsHousingBreakdown
