Honors New Student Orientation


Welcome! We’re so looking forward to seeing you on campus this Fall!

In the meantime, this page gives you a checklist of all you need to know about new student orientation for incoming Honors students. You’ll see options for on-campus and virtual orientations for both first-time and transfer students.

Incoming First Year Students (2-day Orientation on campus)

Day 1: Attend one (1) Honors College Breakout Session
1:30-1:55pm OR 2:00-2:25pm

Location: Gardner Commons (GC) 3700

The Honors Advising team will provide an overview of the Honors College, including degree requirements and enrolling in your first-year learning community. We will distribute the Honors College NSO packet, which will assist with first-semester course planning on Day 2.

First Year NSO Packet

Day 2: Attend First Semester Course Planning with Academic College
MANDATORY / 9:30am-12:30pm

Location: respective areas (to be advised)

During this time, you'll identify one 3-credit Honors seminar or HON designated course, consult with an Honors Advisor working with your college, and register for your First Semester classes, including your first-year learning community (HONOR 1010).

Day 2: Meet with the Honors Advising Team
1:00-2:30pm

Location: GC 1855

The Honors Advising team will begin with an overview of Honors Integrated Minors and Honors at the Asia Campus. After that, advisors will be available to help students finalize their class schedules and enroll in their first-year learning community (HONOR 1010).

Incoming Transfer Students (1-day Orientation on campus)

Attend the Transfer Resources Panel
10:30-11:00am

Location: Union Ballroom

Connect with Honors Advisors (Madison Abele, Anna Chuaqui, or Karleton Munn). You will also receive and review the Honors College NSO packet.

Transfer NSO Packet

Attend First Semester Course Planning with Academic College
MANDATORY

Location: respective areas (to be advised)

During this meeting you'll register for your First Semester classes, schedule an advising appointment with an Honors Advisor to review your schedule, and enroll in a learning community.
