Pioneer Theater Company Event
Tours of the new Meldrum Theatre at the U
Please join us as we explore the past and envision the future on a tour of The Einar Nielsen Fieldhouse in its transformation into the much-anticipated Meldrum Theatre.
Originally opened in 1939, the Einar Nielsen Fieldhouse has been central in the memories of U students and acted as home for U athletes for decades. From 1939 to 1969, the Runnin’ Utes basketball team played there to adoring crowds. Students took physical education within its walls and it was even retrofitted to hold soldiers during WWII.
Located on the southwest side of campus, the Einar Nielsen Fieldhouse is getting a major upgrade, but this time it’s big news for artists, not athletes. Construction at the fieldhouse is underway and soon the building will be converted into a theatre for use by the University of Utah’s Department of Theatre and Pioneer Theatre Company.
We will be conducting three 30-minute tours through the new theatre on Thursday, September 21, 2023 with the first beginning at 10:30 a.m.: (10:30 a.m.; 11 a.m.; 11:30 a.m.).
Please rsvp to Celine David, annual giving manager, at celine.david@ptc.utah.edu or 801-581-5850 by Tuesday, Sept. 19, as space is very limited.
