DEADLINE: April 20th by 5:00pm
Peer Mentors work directly with an Honors professor to connect incoming first-year students to the Honors community and the University of Utah, at-large. Honors Peer Mentors do this by engaging students in class, sharing opportunities that are pertinent to students’ interests, and by participating in on- and off- campus sponsored events. Most importantly, peer mentors act as master learners who model good student behavior such as active listening, asking questions, and showing initiative.
Time commitment is 10-hours a week, which includes attending the class** where you will be the peer mentor every time it meets, meeting regularly with your instructor, researching and attending events with students, and monthly meetings with other peer mentors, to name a few. Students selected to become a peer mentor will be required to complete part of their training over the summer via Canvas.
Peer Mentors will receive $1,000 per semester (Fall 2018 and Spring 2019). The funds will be processed through scholarships and will go towards any outstanding tuition. Any funds that are not paid towards tuition will be distributed directly to you. For more information, please contact Erica Rojas, email@example.com.
**Classes meet once a week after 4:30pm, with the exception of one class TBD.
