Honors College Mission:

The Honors College promotes an enriched academic environment for talented and highly motivated students. We foster values of social responsibility, inclusiveness and academic quality - in short, a community of excellence.

Welcome to the Honors College at the University of Utah!

You probably already know that Honors provides an alternate way for you to satisfy your general education requirements in classes that are smaller, taught by distinguished and engaging professors, and that often use innovative teaching methods. But you probably don't know that entering the Honors College also means that you are now a member of the Honors community--a group of students, faculty and community members who share a love of learning, the desire for excellence, and an engagement in the world of ideas.

You will find that the Honors College tries to create an environment that nurtures the whole person academically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Watch for announcements of special activities or opportunities on our new website--we will post notices of lectures, socials, classes, and scholarship deadlines regularly.

This year there are several new mentorship programs in place. Come in and talk with us about which one might best serve your needs.

We know we have great classes and professors for you, but the Honors College will be only as good as you make it. It takes energy and commitment to make it great! Take advantage of events out of class to get to know other students. Form relationships with your professors or hook up with our alumni through our mentoring programs. Come in for advising sessions to plan out your college career and anticipate graduation with the University Honors degree. We know you will be glad you did.
